This publicity photo of LA-1 westbound at Mira Loma shows one of the few examples of an altered photo in UP's historical archives. The jointly-owned LA-1 was delivered with the 'T' nose medallion, which contained the logos of both UP and C&NW. This photo was altered for wartime advertising to use the nose medallion as was used only on UP-owned locomotives. Compare this photo with the other photo at Mira Loma, also of LA-1, but on an eastbound train, with the Overland Route bar across the UP shield. (Jeff Asay Collection)
