The dump at the time was in North Salt Lake, where the Salt Lake Union Stock Yard was built in 1916. Old maps on file in the Davis County recorder's office show the area known as St. Joseph, including an interchange track between Salt Lake & Ogden, OSL (UP), and RGW. A local history of Davis County ("East of Antelope") mentions the site as being the old Salt Lake City dump, where lots of colored glass could be found by treasure and memento seekers. It was a low spot east of the OSL tracks, north of where today's Center Street crosses the tracks, and under I-15.
